This weeks BIG cinematic event is happening at SIFF Cinema!
It's the second part of Masaki Kobayashi's cinematic masterpiece The Human Condition Part 2: Road to Eternity. A big thank you to the folks at SIFF and SIFF Cinema for bringing this amazing experience to us lucky Seattle cinema connoisseurs! I mean, not only do we get this great film, but a beautiful new 35mm Cinemascope print! Woo-hoo! SIFF takes good care of us film nuts, so if you can, please try to make a contribution to SIFF by September 30th and help SIFF make their fundraising goal. Most movie lovers around the USA do not have something as sweet as what we've got here in Seattle with SIFF....let's make sure SIFF stays (and stays healthy!). Viva la SIFF!
Sooo...what other 35mm gems are in town showing on a big screen (where they belong) this week? The Northwest Film Forum is NEW 35mm print heaven this week as new prints of a pair of early Alain Robbe-Grillet films (The Man Who Lies & Eden and After) screen on Saturday and Sunday ONLY! and they are joined by a pair of early Milos Forman films (Audition aka Competition & Black Peter) which play on Tuesday & Wednesday ONLY. Meanwhile, the Metro is showing the great WWII film Hell in the Pacific (Wednesday ONLY) and the Egyptian is showing Donnie Darko (Director's Cut) at midnight on Friday and Saturday night. Anyone remember the gala party for Donnie Darko at ConWorks? That was SIFF at it's finest!
There are no return arrivals of SIFF 2008 films this week.
